4/11: Outdoor Yoga for Crafters - All Levels!
$20.00

Gentle, All-Levels Flow | 60 minutes
Second Saturday of every month • 10:00–11:00 AM

Give your creative body a little love. Join us outside at The Common Thread Yarn Shop & Café for a gentle, all-levels yoga flow designed especially for crafters: anyone who knits, crochets, sews, stitches, or spends hours joyfully hunched over a project.

Led by Nicole Maloney, this class focuses on releasing tension in the areas makers feel it most: wrists, hands, neck, shoulders, back, and hips. We’ll begin with grounding breathwork, gently warm and mobilize the joints we rely on most, and move through slow, intentional postures that link movement with breath. The class closes with a restorative relaxation and short guided meditation so you leave feeling open, relaxed, and ready to create.

No yoga experience needed, this class is welcoming, accessible, and beginner-friendly.

Our café will be open before and after class, serving hot coffee, tea, and locally baked pastries, perfect for easing into your morning or lingering a little longer afterward.

What to Bring

  • A yoga mat

  • Water bottle

  • Optional: a blanket or extra padding for comfort
(Class is held outdoors on asphalt; limited astro-turf areas available first come, first served.)

About the Instructor:

Nicole is a Tampa Bay native and lifelong movement lover who grew up as a competitive dancer and spent summers crafting with her grandmother. She rediscovered the connection between body and mind through community yoga in 2016 and completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training at Bella Prana in 2022. Today, she blends movement and making to help students stretch, soften, and build mindfulness into everyday creative life.

Come breathe, move, and care for the body that makes the things you love, and maybe treat yourself to something warm and delicious while you’re here. ✨

4/11 Fixing Common Knitting Mistakes
$55.00

Fixing Common Knitting Mistakes
📅 April 11 • 1–4PM

Mistakes happen… but what if they didn’t have to ruin your project?

One of the most empowering skills you can learn as a knitter is how to fix your own work. In this hands-on workshop with Elizabeth Margaret, you’ll learn how to confidently identify, understand, and repair common knitting mistakes—so you can keep going without starting over.

We’ll cover how to read your knitting, use lifelines, correct stitch counts, fix dropped stitches, and spot errors while working in pattern. You’ll gain the skills to troubleshoot your projects in real time and build a deeper understanding of how your stitches actually work.

Have a project that’s been sitting in time-out? Bring your WiP along—Elizabeth will offer guidance and help troubleshoot as time allows.

Elizabeth brings decades of knitting and crochet experience and a deep love of teaching, making even the trickiest fixes feel approachable.

You’ll leave this class feeling more confident, capable, and ready to tackle your knitting without fear.

Materials to Bring:

  • 1 ball of yarn (DK or worsted weight recommended) + appropriate needles

  • 1 tapestry needle

  • Scrap yarn (a few yards)

  • Crochet hook (size D–F) or a stitch fixer

  • 1 double-pointed needle (same size as your working needles)

Perfect for knitters who know the basics and are ready to take their skills (and confidence) to the next level.

About the Instructor:
Elizabeth Margaret is a St. Pete local by way of NYC and the designer behind One Wild Designs. She’s been knitting and crocheting since childhood and has published over 50 patterns since 2020. Elizabeth has taught technique and fit workshops in yarn shops across the country and online, helping makers of all levels feel more confident in their craft.

Intro to Sock Knitting Class: 3-Part Series
$75.00

Intro to Sock Knitting: 3-Part Series
Sundays: 4/19, 4/26, 5/3 • 2–3:30PM
Instructor: Maryellen
$75 for all three sessions

Ready to knit your first pair of socks? This three-part beginner series is designed to take you from cast-on to finished pair, one step at a time.

Over the course of three weeks, you’ll learn the full sock-making process in a supportive, hands-on environment. Each session focuses on a different section of the sock:

  • Week 1: Casting on + knitting the ankle

  • Week 2: Turning the heel (the part everyone’s scared of…we’ve got you)

  • Week 3: Shaping the toe + finishing techniques

By the end of the series, you’ll not only have a completed pair of socks, but the skills and confidence to keep making more.

Maryellen is known around the shop for her clear, patient teaching style and her ability to make even the trickiest techniques feel approachable.

Materials:

  • 1–2 skeins of Malabrigo Mecha (depending on desired sock length)

  • 9” circular needles + DPNs in size US7
(We carry both yarn and needles in-store, but inventory is limited so plan ahead!)

Prerequisites:
This is a beginner sock class, but not a beginner knitting class. Students should already know how to:

  • Cast on and bind off

  • Knit and purl comfortably

  • Work in the round (highly recommended)

  • Maintain consistent tension

No prior sock experience needed, we’ll guide you through heel turns, gussets, and toe shaping step by step.
