In this hands-on session, you’ll design and create your own holiday-themed rug — whether that’s a Grinchy grin, a glowing leg lamp, a cozy Hello Kitty, or something perfectly suited to your favorite winter celebration. From Christmas to Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Yule, or even Krampus, you’ll craft a one-of-a-kind piece that spreads handmade cheer. Taught by the one and only Noah Vessenmeyer, aka @LordoftheRugz!
What You’ll Learn
How to handle and operate a tufting machine (a power tool!) safely and effectively
Tips for outlining your design, filling shapes, and controlling speed & density
The basics of finishing: applying adhesive and backing so your rug is ready to display or gift
Workshop Details
Duration: 3 hours, start to finish

Ages: 13+ (under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian)
Attire: Comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes required; long hair must be tied back.
Rug Size: Up to 26" × 26"
You’re invited to arrive as early as 11 AM to grab a coffee from our café and watch the setup process — your instructor will be tracing your chosen design onto the canvas so it’s ready for you to tuft. Or, if you’d rather jump straight into the action, arrive at 12 PM and get tufting right away.
Once registered, you’ll receive a catalog of curated holiday-inspired designs: think Labubus, Hello Kitty in a Santa hat, classic movie moments like the leg lamp or The Grinch, plus cozy and inclusive motifs for all winter traditions. You can also collaborate with the instructor to adapt your own design idea.
What’s Included
Your $150 ticket covers everything you need:
Prepared canvas with your selected image
Use of tufting machine, tools, and frame
Three yarn colors (add extra colors for $15 each)
All finishing materials (adhesive & backing)
Gratuity for your instructor is optional and always appreciated.
Finishing Touch

Please note: tufting machines are power tools and should be handled with care. Participants are responsible for any damage to the machine during the session.
About the Instructor:
Noah Vessenmeyer discovered his passion for textiles through his studies in Environmental Sustainability Sciences at St. Petersburg College. What began as a capstone clothing brand project in 2017 quickly grew into a deeper fascination with the artistry behind fiber and fabric. After a chance evening spent watching local artist Sebastian Coolidge experiment with a tufting machine, Noah was instantly captivated by the medium’s mix of creativity and machinery.
Entirely self-taught thanks to countless hours of internet research and hands-on trial and error, Noah has spent the years since the pandemic refining his craft. His work blends tufting with upholstery, weaving, and sewing, creating one-of-a-kind pieces that showcase both innovation and sustainability. Today, as the artist behind @lordoftherugz, he’s excited to share the techniques and joy of rug tufting with new makers, inspiring others to explore this unique and tactile art form.

What’s Included
Your $150 ticket covers everything you need:
Prepared canvas with your selected image
Use of tufting machine, tools, and frame
Three yarn colors (add extra colors for $15 each)

Gratuity for your instructor is optional and always appreciated.
Finishing Touch
If time allows, you can help apply adhesive and backing yourself; otherwise the host will handle it. After 24 hours of drying, your custom rug will be ready to pick up and display — perfect for gifting, decorating your home, or adding a dash of handmade holiday joy.
