9/12: Custom Fitting Tops: How to Add Bust Darts to Knitwear
Saturday, September 12th
2pm-5pm | $35
Have you ever noticed one of your handmade tops is shorter in the front than in the back....and that wasn't part of the pattern? It sounds like you need darts. Horizontal darts add length to a garment in the area where they're placed. Bust darts are the most common in knitting patterns (more rarely in crochet); but, you can add darts for busts, chests, bellies, and booties, or anywhere else you want to put them. This workshop will cover the basics of adding horizontal darts to the front of a garment. You will learn:
When darts are a good option
Which type of short rows are best for darts
How to measure for darts
How to calculate stitches and rows
How to add darts to most handmade garments (knitting or crochet!)
How to calculate darts in textured stitches
This is an excellent workshop for anyone who has knitted or crocheted a garment before; or a challenging workshop for an ambitious beginner. No materials are necessary, a notebook is recommended, Elizabeth's notes will be provided.
