This special Valentine’s edition of our popular rug tufting workshop is all about bold designs, soft textures, and making something you’ll love seeing underfoot - or displayed proudly on the wall!
Whether you’re celebrating romance, friendship, self-love, or just your lifelong commitment to cozy crafts, you’ll design and tuft your very own heart-forward rug. Sweet, spicy, or sarcastic? Your rug, your rules.
This hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop is taught by Noah Vessenmeyer (aka @lordoftherugz), a St. Pete–based textile artist known for his playful, bold rug designs and approachable teaching style. Noah will guide you through the entire tufting process from design to finishing, using a professional tufting machine (yes, it’s a power tool), with plenty of one-on-one support throughout. No prior experience required.
🧶 What You’ll Learn
How to safely and confidently use a tufting machine
Techniques for outlining, filling, and creating texture
Tips for clean edges and long-lasting construction
Finishing methods to make your rug display- or gift-ready
☕ Come Early, Get Cozy
You’re welcome to arrive as early as 11 AM to grab a latte from our café and watch your design being traced onto the canvas. Prefer to dive straight in? Show up at noon and start tufting right away.
🎨 Design Options
After registration, you’ll receive a curated catalog of Valentine-inspired designs: think hearts, florals, cheeky phrases, nostalgic icons, and playful motifs. Feeling creative? You can also collaborate with the instructor to adapt your own idea into a tuftable design.
💝 Your Ticket Includes
Prepped canvas with your selected design
Use of tufting machine, frame, and all tools
Three yarn colors (additional colors available for $15 each)
All finishing materials (adhesive & backing)
Your finished rug to take home!
Spaces are intentionally limited to 4 people per session to keep the experience relaxed and hands-on. Come make something soft, bold, and full of love at The Common Thread. 💗
